the Guardian—Kazakhstan's first-ever Olympic skating medalist Denis Ten has died. The 25-year-old was killed during an attempted robbery in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Ten won a bronze at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and acquired podium finishes in both the 2013 & 2015 world championships.
