    When Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel got to the scene of crash on Friday night in Lauderdale Lakes, they found a motorcycle torn in half and a man they say owes his life to his helmet.     A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Tri-Rail train Friday in Hallandale Beach, authorities said. Bonnie Arnold, a spokeswoman for Tri-Rail, said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard.   • Downed power lines cause traffic delays in Pembroke Pines

    Pembroke Pines police are urging people to avoid the area of Northwest 129th Avenue and Northwest 10th Street because of downed power lines. The view from Sky 10 showed large plumes of smoke coming off a pole power and transformer. Police said Florida Power and Light has been notified about the downed lines near the Pembroke Pines YMCA Aquatic Center.

  • Tractor-trailer catches fire on Gratigny Parkway

    A tractor-trailer caught fire Tuesday morning on the Gratigny Parkway. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said firefighters were called to a tractor-trailer fire on the Gratigny Parkway at Northwest 42nd Avenue shortly after 7:15 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the tractor-trailer engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
