    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Clay County prosecutors filed charges Tuesday against a 30-year-old man they say shot and killed a man earlier this month, then dismembered him before setting the victim’s body on fire. According to the charging documents, on Sunday, May 5 around 4:25 p.m. police were dispatched to a home in the Northland along N.E. Poe Street.   • Man sentenced to 54 years in prison for killing ex-girlfriend while their 2-year-old was in the home

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Jackson County judge sentenced a man to 54 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend in January 2018. Joseph Gonsalez was convicted in March of voluntary manslaughter, two counts of armed criminal action and child endangerment. He was initially charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Elizabeth Richards, the mother of his child.     The fatal shooting happened at 11:30 in East Houston last night, shortly after ‘some sort of disturbance’ involving more than a dozen teens gathered outside of a home was reported.
